However, the FOMELC leaders took the lead on introductions before the project and VOC staff was unable to give their welcome speech. As for the VOC fleet required, a sole truck was capable of carrying everything as the only tools required from VOC were hand held weed pickers and gloves. Getting to the meeting spot was not difficult and fairly straightforward based on the directions given, but there is no service once you get on the road that takes you there. Additionally, the hike to the project site is most notable as it was about 2.5 miles and took a decent amount of time. VOC staff was only able to bring one water jug for volunteers but that was very strenuous on the hike there, so emphasizing to volunteers that they need to bring enough personal water is advisable. Lastly, there were alot of insects on the invasive species we were removing, so bringing bug spray would also be ideal. Successes and Challenges: We had great success in our communications with the FOMELC team and we got a lot of work done. Ideally we would have liked to have more volunteers to take the work load off of everyone but it is a very enjoyable and scenic project nonetheless. Lessons Learned: Knowing and communicating the water supply situation for each project and specifically this project is very important.
