Platte with the Weld County Weed Division to remove Purple Loosestrife, a noxious invasive weed. Successes and Challenges: Successes: Volunteers removed 9 Purple Loosestrife plants, then Weld County Weed Division wen through and sprayed the plants. These numbers are very low in comparison to previous years! This is good because it shows the work that we've been doing with this project is working as the noxious weed is not coming back as frequently Challenges: the kayaking company did not have enough boats for everyone on the trip, so two people had to double up on one kayak. These volunteers had great attitudes and were very understanding. One volunteer also got their boat stuck in a tree and was helped by one of the Weld County staff. Lessons Learned: - making sure the crew leader, project manager and land managers all have radios in Brighton as cell service is fairly limited - go through Rocky Mtn Adventures instead of Confluence Kayak, and ordering the boats far in advance/try to get a donation as well for the next event Special Notes: Stewardship Education: Key Concerns or Comments from Staff or Volunteers: Description of Accidents/Incidents: Description of Work Completed:
