Project Summary: On Saturday, June 3rd, volunteers met at the Griffith's Solar Garden site to plant 2,500 native plant species that were placed in their respective spots the day prior. The team split up into two and made their way down each side of the site, planting and seeding along the way. Audubon Rockies brought breakfast burritos and pizza for lunch.
Successes and Challenges: Successes - all 2,500 native plants were planted along with seeding in between each planting plot. Most of the volunteers were first timers and they all worked really well together
Challenges - It rained much more this day than the previous day, so some volunteers felt slightly uncomfortable because of that. Although everyone stayed until the project was finished. Seeding was also a challenge because of the rain, but we were able to complete that by putting the seeding crew into groups of two (one to spread the seed and the other to rake it in right behind them)
Lessons Learned: Have an inclement weather plan and bring extra gloves for volunteers as they got very muddy throughout the day
